Hi Chris

Many thanks for your message. Most useful. I shall have to try to get to Gos Records Office sometime to look at the various documents referred to or as I live in Pembrokeshire may have to ask a professional to do this for me. Excellent to have a few leads tho'.

Regards,
Annie

you may have confused Upper Lydbrook with Lydney - there were two chapels both named Ebenezer ! ( The Ebenezer Methodist's named many chapels Ebenezer)

http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=23251 relates to Lydney - Primrose Hill / Springfield Road

Ebenezer Primitive Methodist Chapel, Springhill, Lydney

My great grandfather Thomas Bowen (1843-1905) was a founder member of the Ebenezer Chapel and there is a plaque to his memory which is now in the Vestry. I am interested in the history of the Primitive Methodists in the Forest of Dean and especially in that of the Ebenezer chapel which has a date of !869 on the front of the building - I think there may hve been a legal dispute about the chapel a couple of years later.
Any help would be much apprecited
