and I suspect that Alice’s brother James gave her away at the wedding. But we need further evidence that Alice’s father is Elijah and this can be achieved by obtaining a copy of the birth certificate. However when we look at the marriage of Alice’s youngest sister Mary Ann to Albert Brain in 1890 at Drybrook we find that her father is Elijah and the witnesses were Thomas and Alice Higgins. Also if you look at the 1891 Census you will find that Alice Higgins and John H Reed (her brother) are neighbours.
