Hi there, just noticed this forum post and I realise that it is quite old! Anyway, my dad (Martin Chamberlain) knows Lily Chamberlain as she was his auntie. Dad has been researching the family tree back to 1773 and has discovered a lot about the family. We used to visit auntie Lil when she lived in The Oval, Gloucester City.
Lil was my grandad Jack's (born John) sister x

Hello there,
Have just stumbled on this post and realise that is an old one but maybe have some information of interest.
My dad is Martin Chamberlain, son of John Chamberlain born 1913(known as Jack)in Drybrook and has just had his family tree researched going back to 1773. His auntie was Lily Chamberlain (born 1922) of Drybrook,later living in Gloucester City. Dad was really surprised to find out about the Chamberlain/Barnard connection uncovered in his family tree.

Update on this nightmare family CHAMBERLAIN's hahaha
My birth cert arrived for Lily CHAMBERLAIN and lists no father just upper bilson so ordered William John CHAMBERLAIN b 1908 also states no father but same mother as lily's and also got John CHAMBERLAIN birth cert and that also says no father just Edith CHAMBERLAIN again living in upper Bilson

So I have now found at least 3 different Edith CHAMBERLAIN born in the same areas all at around the right age for my ~Lily's mother, but with out fathers details or marriage details surely I have hit a brick wall ..........any advice would be great Thanks....PS I have also ordered the birth cert to Reggie Barnard CHAMBERLAIN to see if this gives any clues

Are saying that Edith remarried to BARNARD ????? some of the siblings names correspond to what I have here but Keith is def a new one,
Reg Jack,Will and possibly and Ivy are all the suviving family can tell us no dates or further info....it is poss that Reg has a daughter Joy, but thats about it

the witnesess at the wedding were J WEAR and W ROBERTS
and at this point in 1947 Lily was living in Gloucester City. I have just ordered the full birth cert in the hope it lists mother and father, but with no further info apart John CHAMBERLAIN deceased at time of wedding.
Lily's small birth cert just states Girl born 15 Jan 1922 Westbury on severn East Dean, I suppose that could be any where lol

Thank you for all the speedy repsonses and help, but i think the only way we are going to get to the bottom of all these CHAMBERLAINS is to get their birth certs order......I got Lily's father name from her marriage cert which was in 1947 but her father was deceased by then....again i havent found a death that rings any bells...........i also have a birth cert for lily but this is only the small one and so doesnt give enough info

If so, then mothers maiden name is given as Chamberlain. So either both parents had the same surname, or Lily was possibly born prior to any marriage. So far I haven't found a marriage of a John Chamberlain to an Edith!

There are several other Chamberlain/Chamberlain births registered around that time in W-on-S. Do you know if Lily had any siblings?

Hi there everyone, I have just started to research my partners family.
His Gran was Lily CHAMBERLAIN born in westbury on Severn in 1922 to a John CHAMBERLAIN and Edith UNKNOWN......

Is there anyone else researching the CHAMBERLAINS in this area .....
