Selina Jordan (reply)

Eliza Ann Baldwin, the daughter of Selina, is my great grandmother. She married Joseph Baldwin(as far as I can tell, no relation)in 1891, but by then they had a least eight children. Joseph Baldwin died in 1892, Eliza then had 10 more children who survived into adulthood. My grandmother always said that the 10 children were actually Jordons and Miles Jordon lived with Eliza Ann into the early 1900s. Miles Jordon was a cousin to Eliza Ann being the son of James and Harriet Jordon, James being Selina's Brother. Eliza Ann and Joseph Baldwin lived on Wigpool and my father lived with his grandmother for the first eight years of his life. The Jordon children all had the surname "Baldwin"

Bertha, Thank you for your reply. It looks like Selina "flew the coop" by 1871 census time and the family scattered. I can spot all of them except one in your list. Two have been taken in by grandparents. I have been helping Selina's great grand daughter search and she will be surprised to know of these people.

Selina Jordan

On Feb 14, 1858 Jacob Baldwin, full age, and Selina Jordan, 20, married at Drybrook. From a review of the online parish records they had the following children: Jacob in 1861, Eliza Ann in 1864, EZ in 1866 and Lucy in 1869. In the 1881 census I find Jacob and two of the children, son Jacob and Lucy, in Westbury. Jacob the father is listed as a widower. The question is what happened to Selina and the other two children. There is a suspicion that Selina did not die but left her much older husband for America. Would someone with access to the 1871 census tell me if the entire family is there?
Thank you , Dewey
