Top Littledean Hill ( Woodside) -> Collafield (reply)

The census reference is R.G.11/2523 and 106 is a page number

The district is 25. Address Collafield Sheer Bottom Sharpridge.

District 25 is Collafield Green Bottom and Shapridge

The Woodside is "probably" what we would call Littledean Woodside.

Looking at their Neighbours the Brain's and Grindle's then this is between
the end of the Heywood Causeway on Littledean Hill and Collafield / Edge Hills

Reading the 1881 Census William Henry Vaughn (reply)

Bertha thank you for this. I had interpreted "cheque" any ideas as to what he might actually do - would he be the equivalent of quality control?
and does CMM mean anything important?

Thanks

Woodside and Ruardean Woodside (reply)

Looking at an old map of the area the place which is now known as Ruardean Woodside is marked on this map as Woodside Farm and below that is just the name Woodside.

Reading the 1881 Census William Henry Vaughn (reply)

If you look on the sheet that has his actual details rather than the Census itself his occupation is 'Cheque Weight Man' with (CMM) in brackets (I've spelt 'cheque' exactly how it's written)

Reading the 1881 Census William Henry Vaughn

To all my helpful experts on the Board. May I ask for your further help.

The 1881 Census for William Henry Vaughn shows William age 25 living with his wife Julia son Willie age 19 months daughter Julia E. age 3 months and a servant Eliza Chivers (age 13). The entry is spread over two pages.

I am trying to decipher William Henry Vaughn's occupation, it has a heavy squiggle over it.

The census reference is R.G.11/2523 and 106 is a page number

The district is 25. Address Collafield Sheer Bottom Sharpridge.

but under road street etc I think is says Woodside - would that be Ruardean
Woodside?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Barbara
