Fire Engine mines (reply)

There were at least two - Broadmoor Fire Engine and Nofold Fire Engine - both near modern day Steam Mills.

Nofold Green
nr Steam Mills / Nailbridge

http://www.old-maps.co.uk/
co-ords 364392,215594

You should find Old Engine marked ( but not the Fire Engine mines)

Was there a mine called the fire Engine?

I found this doing a random search

http://www.lightmoor.co.uk/forestcoal/CoalFireEngine.html

30 December 1905 Letter from L. Silverthorne. Mr. Paley Hughes could not work profitably. Purchased by L. Silverthorne and his brother on the understanding that there were five workable seams over 75 acres. They opened the Starky but could not work it, searched for other veins but found nothing but old workings. Gave up discouraged and disheartened losing over £400. After colliery stopped they let it to Messrs. Baggett & Willstead, High Street, Cinderford. They worked it for a short time but did not pay Silverthornes any rent. Asking Crown for a reduction in rent.
Luther and William Silverthorne.

Was there a mine called the fire Engine?

Where can I find out more about this?

My link is Willstead, and I'd also like to know more about the Baggetts
Nora Baggett is listed as a witness on Willsteads daughters marriage cert in
1910 this daughter was my grandmother
