Easy to see how the enumerator could record any number of variations !

£1 for every time I've written "keep an open mind" - if possible multiple sources of evidence help - family bibles, wills etc :-)

Looking through the burials from the Hewelsfield paish records, there is no John
ALLAWAY's listed but there is a James ALLAWAY buried in 1849, which is the year
you mention.

Could James ALLAWAY actually be the person you are looking for? If not do you
have any further details on Jonh which would help us track him down?
