Wow thanks for taking so much trouble, much of the info I had, but it is always good to see it reproduced and confirmed. The Cheshire Family is interesting, my maternal line heads back to Cheshire, Rainhow in fact, and also to Shropshire, pure coincidence I'm sure.

Where did all the Hopes go, can't say I have ever met anyone with the name in the area. Time to read your info again. cheers fred

Thanks for that Mr Watkins. Works a treat. The ID ticket, I could see my details and user name, but not the password, could I have just clicked on a link and gone through to the boards without it? I'm happy now.

There has been a lot of interest on the Monmouthshire boards about Watkins in Monmouth Town. Sorry to take up your time Fred

HOPE name in Westbury on Severn

This is as close as I can get to parish records in the members area, I'm a member, but I'm also use AOL, so there is no way I can check my name and password which it would seem are different from those I use to access these boards.

I would like to have details of my GG-Grandfather John Hope baptised 30th December 1818. Father John Hope, mother ? I think he had a brother James.
They turn up in 1841 in Garway South Herefordshire, John's daughter Eliza married Richard Paul of Staunton, but he died soon after, so Eliza married her cousin Samuel Beach (John Hopes wife was Sarah Beach born Garway)

Any details found in the parish records about Hopes would help tidy up that end of the tree, it's not a very common name, but I doubt if it will go back much further than the late 1700's.
