LLoyd branch at Upton Bishop 1600's (reply)

Ahh, I was looking at this family at one point but I'm not sure if this is right one. The Thomas Lloyd I am looking for was born in 1661 and died in 1731 ( at the top of the GSIA tree). I believe he had first married a Martha and had 3 children - John Lloyd and two Walters that I think died in infancy and then Martha passed away. He then went on to marry a Sarah and had other children - another Walter, Ann, Nathaniel, Joseph and maybe others.According to that same tree Sarah died in 1713 but I'm struggling to find any record of that. Joseph, their son, is who I descend from. He was born in 1708 and I think the first Joseph to make paper at Gunns mills.

LLoyd -Webb branch at Linton 1730's ( flourishing in 1790) (reply)

That's great thank you. It's been hard with the Lloyds more so the Thomas and Sarah Lloyd at the top of the tree and trying to figure out where they came from. There's so many Lloyds and all with similar names. Been interesting to read about their history at Gunns Mill and others in Flaxley etc.

Understanding a family tree abbreviations (reply)

It didn't even enter my head that it could be Latin. Now I'm wondering why the creator of the tree wasn't consistent with using 'b' or 'n'. Oh dear, I really thought flourished meant died ha! Clearly I've confused it with perished. Never mind, at least I have some clarity now. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Understanding a family tree abbreviations (reply)

I believe "n" is latin Natus/Nata for born/produced

floruit "F" I believe indicates that the person was alive in that year (1790). i.e. more research to find the birth "b" or christening "x" :-)

Understanding a family tree abbreviations

Hi all. I'm currently researching the Lloyd family of Weston under Penyard/Abenhall Gunns Mill. I have found a tree printed in the GSIA journal. I'm wondering if anyone is able to help decipher an abbreviation. Some of the people on the tree have the usual 'b' and 'd' for birth and death but others have 'n' before the earliest date and I can't figure out what this means. It does have a key to explain 'x' for Christened and 'f' for flourished but doesn't explain the 'n'.

Another thing I am wondering is if anything significant happened in 1790. There's a whole branch of the Lloyd/Webb tree that flourished in 1790 and I can't find anything out about these.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. I have added the link to the journal tree that I am referring to below. The tree is on the last page. Many thanks.
