<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>slowhands, I should have come back to you on the above two posts where you kindly gave lots of details of the families I am interested in.  I did investigate all of your leads over time, and all of the details you included are in fact my family, now verified from a range of sources.  This has led to other information about these families.</p>
<p>The only lead I have not yet followed through is your reference to the Cullis family living in Coalway Lane next door to the Josephs.  I will get on to that in due course.</p>
<p>Thank you so much for your help to someone living so far from the Forest!</p>

<p>My Hopkins great great grandparents were: Thomas Hopkins and Sarah nee´ Powel (no other details known). My Hopkins great grandparents emigrated to NZ in 1860 from the Forest of Dean. Family stories are that the Hopkins family were Welsh, and my great grandmother was Jewish from Wales (her name, Joseph, is consistent with the Jewish story).</p>
<p>My great grandparents were William Hopkins and Sarah Ann Joseph. Sarah Joseph was a child of Thomas Joseph and Ann Cullis. William Hopkins was born 8 Mar 1835, (?Lydney); Christening: 26 Apr 1835, Lydney. Sarah Joseph was born 6 Mar 1837, Lydbrook.</p>
