Brockweir Common which became Hewelsfield Common (reply)

Seamaiden, >> My line goes through a William Williams of St Briavels, His father was Richard Williams born around 1774, died pre 1851 married 22/10/1794 Hannah Pead 1773 to 1850. I have never been able to conclusively find the birthplace of this Richard born around 1774. One line took me to Whitchurch (unlikely) the other towards the Williams of Tiddenham . I post this because this Richard and Hannah had 8 children, Richard x2, John 1803,George 1806, William 1810, Thomas 1814 and Hannah 1817 and a Joseph that I have as born 1797, baptised around 1798. These were all baptised at St Briavels but not known birth village for sure. Researching Williams is like trying to find a needle in a haystack as so many Williams all possibly interrelated, Little bits of info like we have posted may not actually be directly connected BUT often eliminate a line of possible research that leads to hours of wasted effort .

Nb I have tried to highlight surnames in bold, will be interested to see if actually shows in bold on Forum and not {b}

The Gloucestershire Pubs website is a very good source for information. On this occasion the information is limited which would suggest that there is not much available. This is the website: http://www.gloucestershirepubs.co.uk/AllGlosPubsDatabase/AllGlosPubs_view.php

Brockweir Common which became Hewelsfield Common

I am trying to trace a family who lived here in 1841 on the Census: Joseph Williams b.1797 and Elizabeth Williams(possibly nee Barker)b. 1799-1801. They had Henry b. 1825, Charles b. 1827, Luke b.1832 , Lewis b. 1837, Philip b.1840 and Emma b.1843. Luke Williams and some of his siblings were born in Tidenham. He became the Innkeeper at the Parrot In in the last decades of its existence with his son-in-law Nehemiah Moulton as publican.

Are there any descendants out there and reading this????

Also, does anyone have a photo of the old Parrot Inn? A photo of Brockweir Common with or without squatter settlement circa 1820s?

Thanks for your help !

Cheryl
