Sometimes it's useful to use the Advanced Search for witness i.e. ( so far...)

Marriage at Newnham - 12 August 1815 between Walter TAYLOR and Margaret WICKHAM

witnesses were: John & Phoebe COOPER

Marriage Newnham in 13 August 1809

James HELWAY married Ann HEWLETT - one witness was John COOPER

(think the surname could be ELWAY....)

FOD records - have 3 baptisms at Newnham James & Ann ELWAY...

Mary 1814, John 1816, James 1811, and Ann 1812

On the 1841 Census, East Dean - Pillowell,

James ELWAY - 60
Ann ELWAY - 65
Mary ELWAY - 25
Edward HEWLETT - 14 (pos son of Edward HEWLETT & Esther (nee STERRY) christened 1827 Newnham)
William HEWLETT - 11

Thanks for information. I wondered if there was a Hewlett connection because on the 1881 census Joseph Cooper is living with Louisa Hewlett and William Hewlett.

If you use the Advanced search (baptisms) for parent John COOPER - you will find at Newnham)

Joseph - 18 July 1813 (father John (labourer) & Phoebe

Anne - 26 February 1815 - ditto

William - 11 May 1817 - ditto

Marriage at Newnham - 11 June 1804

John COOPER (residence, Newnham)

married

Phoebe HEWLET (residence, Newham)

I found this message while searching the forum for Coopers.This thread seems to be a single thread with no associated links or other information.
Joseph Cooper was my great great great grandfather. He married Mary Ann Fugill on 23rd September 1839 in St Georges parish church while living in Moore's Fields. Joseph Cooper's father was John Cooper. Their daughter Angelina Mary Ann Cooper is my great great grandmother. I have all the census sheets for him but would be grateful for any other information that anyone can add.
