James Edwin POWELL born around 1880 West Dean

My late relative, James Edwin Powell was born around 1880 and lived in West Dean, at the age of 8 with his father Benjamin Powell and mother Jane. He was one of 11 children, having a brother Benjamin born in 1875, died 1944. I know that by 1919 he married Rachel Goode and was living in Llanhilleth at that time. He was also in WW1 but I cannot find any evidence to back this up.
At the age of 18 he was a collier below ground living still in West Dean.

Anyone who can enlighten me would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you. Anita (nee Powell)
