I will try to answer some of your questions. John Henry Niblett joined the US Army at Pittsburg, Pa. on 25 June 1865, he marries Elizabeth in 1866 while stationed at Ft. Smith, Ark. His enrollment papers say he was born in Gloucheshire, England and is 39 years old. Birth date would be 1826.
His marriage papers state that he is 34, born 1832. Elizabeth could have supplied this information.
Yes that is my John and Elizabeth Carver Niblett on the 1880 Census.
He is also on the 1870 Census, Sebastian Co, Ark. Washburn Township, Black Jack Post Office. He always lived at the foot of Black Jack Mountain. In 1870 he is 43, would be born 1827.
In May of 1890 he filed for a Invalid Pension, he lists his age as 64, and a resident of Dayton. He would be born 1826.

The Public Member Tree you were viewing is that of David Orrell, my friend and genealogy buddy. I think he got the birth date for Ann from another Tree. He does not know that is definitely correct.

I do have that passenger list for Philip HOlmes and children in 1840, were they were from Liverpool. I also think he is in some doubt that Philip is a middle name.

I thought I was wrong on William and Martha being his parents, as he was still in England in 1861. He could have left England between 1861 and 1865. I was under the impression that he had been here longer, but have found no records prior to the 1865.

Maybe Mary Niblett had a prior marriage to a Brook. More questions, fewer answers.

(But looking at the CLDS - A Philip HOLMES married a Mary BROOK - 4 July 1831, Kirkburton)

think they sailed from Liverpool, but don't have access view these records.

? Church of Latter Day Saints: have two baptisms - parents Philip & Mary HOLMES at Kilburton, Yorkshire - Anne - baptism 28 July 1835 (born 6 December 1834) and Charles - 11 June 1837.

New Mills is a Chapelry of Kirkburton

This Public Members Tree, has many census/immigrations details etc. This would be a good start for you to get access to.

Oops!! This is not my Niblett line. Someone posted data showing John Niblett was not the son of William and Martha.

So, let's look at what I have:

John Henry Niblett was born 1826 Gloucester, England.
John said he came from a well-to-do family in England. The story goes that he refused his inheritance as he felt it was too little. It is said that he recieved letter's from his family in England, they offered to pay passage for him and his family to return.
John named his children: John Henry, Mary Ann, George Washington, James Carol,
Emily,Caroline Polina Abbigail, Rebecca Jane, Thomas Lee and Joseph. This family lived near Ft. Smith, Arkansas. and it is said that Mary Preston died at his home.
Mary and George Preston are buried in a Military Cemetery in Ft. Smith, as are most of her children.

His sister was Mary Niblett born about 1808 England. She served the table of Queen Victoria. This is her grandson's statement "She came here from England, where she had been known to Queen Victoria and her household attendants in that department which means so much to royal, happiness - the table.." Mary first married Philip Holmes or Charles Philip Holmes and had children:Sophia Elizabeth, Ann, Charles.
She arrived in New York in 1840, remarried around 1843 to George Preston at Ft. Gibson, Arkansas.

I definitely need help in finding parents for Mary and John Henry Niblett.

Seeking information on the family of William and Martha Partridge Niblett of Taynton and Newent. They had children named Mary, John, Sophia. I think Mary married Philip Holmes and arrived in the USA in 1840. Her brother stowed away on a ship and arrived soon after or possiably at the same time.
