Hello SueHampshire - glad to 'meet' a fellow descendant! I am thinking that either his birth was not registered, registered under a different name or he was born in another area such as Somerset (since the Norman settlers from Gournay settled there. Living in NZ, it is difficult to know where to start - any ideas?
