There's a posting I put on here some time ago which gave a link or the website name to a useful coal mine pit disaster record source. I found it just by Googling Pit Disasters I think. It might be worth looking for it if it was in a pit disaster but if it was an accident which affected only him local newspapers of the time would be likely to have reported on it.
