Yes. He lived in Cinderford most of his life but during the 1920s he and a friend walked all the way to Yorkshire to find work. He returned to Cinderford when things eased and worked in the pits. His best friend was killed when they were both in a mining accident and it affected him badly. A wonderful,gentle man.
