Presumably he must have been a relative of them to be taken in by them although it does not state any family connection as it does for the nephew Evans.

I had hoped that Alfred's wife was perhaps a FROWEN - but no !
The Attestation paper has a "lie" around his age, so again the next of kin "Alfred FROWEN" may be a distortion ....
