1901 Census for Thomas Walford and Ellen Wilce (reply)

Thank you Mike

Well the mystery remains, although the information you found regarding the son Richard's school in 1900 at least confirms the family home until then.

I wonder how often the Census enumerator has been found to miss a household?

1901 Census for Thomas Walford and Ellen Wilce (reply)

The 1911 Census tells us that The family were at Quay Row, Waters Cross. We also find that Richard Wilce WALFORD was admitted to Bishopswood School on 23 April 1900 and that the family were at Waters Cross at that time:

First name(s) Richard Wilce
Last name Walford
Birth year 1895
Birth date 17 Nov 1895
Event year 1900 (23 April)
School name Bishopswood School
Town Bishopswood
County Herefordshire
Country England
Parent name(s) Thomas (of Waters X)
Book type Admissions
Archive reference 44AA93_1
Folio / page no. 17
Archive Herefordshire Archives
Record set National School Admission Registers & Log-Books 1870-1914

We locate Waters Cross in the 1901 Census and if you have a subscription to Ancestry the following link will take you to the first page of the Enumeration District in which it is located:
http://bit.ly/2kmjrTz
However the family does not appear to be listed and a search of both Ancestry and Find My Past is negative.

1901 Census for Thomas Walford and Ellen Wilce (reply)

Thank you for your reply. However, I already have this information from the FreeBMD site. I also have details from the 1911 Census for the family.

What I need is details for the 1901 Ruardean Census. I am wondering if the apparent 8-year gap in the children is indicative of the family having moved away from Ruardean for a few years. Of course transcription or recording error could be the reason for difficulty in locating the 1901 Census.

I am hoping that someone may have unravelled the mystery.
