I should have known better than doubting any info given by Slowhands and I hereby apologise to him.
I have since discovered that the Eliza POWELL (born 1840) married to George TEAGUE was indeed the daughter of my 2x great grandfather William POWELL

The Eliza POWELL who married George TEAGUE could n`t have been "my" Eliza as she wasnt born until 1859. The 1871 census entry that shows "my" Eliza`s brother as a boarder with George and Eliza TEAGUE must be a "red herring" so to speak. I havent been able to find any entries on the parish records for an Eliza POWELL born 1859 Ive got her on the 1861 census with her family

The Hubert POWELL mentioned in the MI inscription was not my grandfather as my Hubert POWELL died in Newbridge Mon JUly 28, 1938 aged 53
Also is there a POWELL/Teague issue? If so I d be pleased for any detais
I was puzzled by the Frances POWELL born 1897 as Id never heard a Frances mentioned in my mother`s family until I looked again at the birth dateand realised she was my Great aunt who was always called Anna

If it was The Olde Cottage (41 North Road) so was I! - just over 4 decades later.

I remember my father taking me to Coleford when I was a child to see a man called Horace Powell. I think he was a family friend and there may have been a connection through their work. Was he one of your uncles?

It was interesting to see the Broadwell photo as my mother told me she was born(in1907)next door to that pub. Her name was Florence Lillian POWELL
