Caroline HOPKINS (reply)

HiPete
Thank you very much for the information on my great grandmother. I'm
sorry its taken so long but my lap top gave up and I've had to purchase
a new one. Caroline Hopkins did't leave the Forest on 1927 - my mother
Caroline Julia Yemm did ( her grandchild) I was thrilled with all the
information about Caroline Hopkins father especially the Coroners report.
I am now going to try and find out what school my mother went to she was
12 when they went to live in Wales. My grandfather was John James Yemm who
married Annie Elizabeth Ellen Bendall, they lived in Viney Hill, Blakney,
Once again many thanks for taking the time to research my query.

On Wednesday evening an enquiry was held by M. F. Carter Esq., at the Railway Inn, Bullo, relative to the death of Thomas Hopkins, of Gatcombe, who was drowned under lamentable circumstances on the previous evening. David Longstreet deposed he resided at Gatcombe, and was a fisherman. Deceased was a fisherman, and lived at Gatcombe. On the 19th June, he with deceased were engaged with stopping nets in the Severn. They commenced at 5 o'clock on the flow tide. Their boats were about six yards apart. At about 6 p.m., it was an hour and a half's flood - running hard. Deceased's net was still on. Deceased tried to get his net out and the boat overturned. Could not say whether Hopkins could swim. He (witness) saw the boat turn over. Deceased had been an experienced fisherman for 28 years. The boat went up the river. P.C. Baker deposed to having proceeded to Bullo on Tuesday night, where he found the boat, the net was still in the water, the deceased in it clinging thereto and was dead. The Coroner addressed the Jurors, who found that the deceased was drowned by the overturning of the boat to which a stop net was attached.

Caroline HOPKINS left the Forest about 1927

I understand that Caroline HOPKINS. married my great grandfather William
BENDALL. One of their children was Annie Elizabeth Ellen who married
my grandfather John James YEMM. My mother was Caroline Julia who was
12 years old when they left the Forest about 1927. Please can anyone
give me any information about Caroline HOPKINS and her family.
