I have a George Drew b.1805, I am looking for information re his parents,
I have two marrages for him, one to a Mary Cross 27th April 1828 Abenhall and another to Mary Ann Chisholme 7th March Staint Thomas, Salisbury.
Can anyone help with confirming if he was married to both or who he was married to and any info on his parents.

Some more context might help - why you suspect he married twice - where he was living ( Abenhall and Salisbury are some way apart) - where he died - any children etc

Sorry George was born in Little Dean 1805
I'm not sure whether he was married twice on not.

I have also been researching the Drew family in Littledean. Lucy Sarah Drew(b1835) is the sister of Charles Alfred Drew(b1853) who is my gg grandfather.
I belive their parents were George Drew(b1805 Littledean) and Mary Ann Chisholme(b1807 Cirencester. My trail goes dead after this.

First, I can't thank everyone enough for all their help in locating my ancestors. Please know that it is much appreciated!!

About the same name for two children in one family.

I have run across this in my own family tree, the second child was named after the first child that had past away. Very uncommon practice for our time, but not sure about the past.

If you refer to the 2 cencuses you will see that the girls names vary from one to the other.I suspect a tired enumerator made an error on the one where the two names are the same.It is also not unusual for names to be used in the event of deaths,but not in this case I think.

One possible reason is that one child would die in infancy, and then the name would be used again for the next child.

In some cases, however, the head of the house would list all the children, living or dead, and when they were born. I have seen it happen before, where children have died in infancy, but still been recorded a few years later on the census...

In your case, the enumerator may not have paid any heed to it, or may even have worded his questions such that the head of the house put all the children on.

I hope this provides a possible explination
