I'm somewhat confused because I've just received a copy of the marriage certificate between George Baker and Sarah Mudway for the 29 May 1849 and George's father is shown as Richard, yet in the parish records it is down as Andrew. <br />

</blockquote><p>The transcription should be on the basis of what is seen - so the transcriber probably felt that the word in the Register was &quot;Andrew&quot; , with hindsight someone else looking at it might say &quot;Richard&quot; !</p>
<p>Based on the Census and your Marriage Cert I think that Richard is correct.  Multiple sources are always a good idea :-)</p>
