I have an ELIZABETH HIPWOOD in my family tree. My best stab at her ancestry is as follows. The family seems to have been bargemen/mariners on the River Severn.

Generation No. 1

1. THOMAS HIPWOOD married on 5th December 1673, Worfield, Shropshire SARAH TAYLOR. Had issue:
1.1. SAMUEL HIPWOOD (baptised 4th December 1677, St Leonard’s, Bridgnorth, Shropshire).

Generation No. 2

2. SAMUEL HIPWOOD (baptised 4th December 1677, St Leonard’s, Bridgnorth, Shropshire) married ANNE U/K. Had issue:
2.1. THOMAS HIPWOOD baptised 6th October 1718 St Leonard’s, Bridgnorth, Shropshire.

3. THOMAS HIPWOOD married on 21st April 1747, St Mar’s, Bridgnorth, Shropshire JOYCE WHEELWRIGHT. Had issue:
3.1. BENJAMIN HIPWOOD baptised 5th December 1757, St Mary Magdelene, Bridgnorth, Shropshire.

5.1. ANN BELCHER baptised about 1824 in Chipping Sodbury.

6. CHARLES JAMES (baptised 21st January1821, Blakeney) married ANN BELCHER on December 26th 1842, Lydney (por: groom Old Croft and bride Pillowell; father collier; fathers RICHARD JAMES – a collier - and JOHN BELCHER- a mason). Had issue, according to the censuses of 1851:
6.1. HARRIETT JAMES SNR. Had issue:
6.1.1. HARRIETT JAMES JNR married SAMUEL MORGAN (my great grandfather born West Dean, 1869, Forest of Dean).
