I have contacted the general registry office as ALL of gwents record offices have apparently done searches and cannot find this marriage.
We have ordered the certificate and are now waiting for it to arrive in around 4-5 days time..... Thanks again for all your help.

How did you find all that info??? I couldnt find it anywhere

The research suggests that Albert Rawlings born 11 January 1894 is the son of Albert and Laura Rawlings of Marshfield, South Gloucestershire. To be certain you should obtain the Certificate of Marriage of Albert to Mary Smart as this should provide the name of his father and maybe other members of the family as Witnesses. The 1911 Census tells us that he was from a large family consisting of 11 children at that time.

Hi all, thankyou all so so much for your help with this, truely grateful.
The albert Rawlings born 1894 - 1967 is correct as his last living address was 17 Victoria Road, Bulwark. He was a police constable also, my friends father confirmed that for me today.

So am i correct in thinking that he was originally from gloucestershire area??? I am just getting my head around all info as i need to write it down for me friend and his dad to explain to tomorrow

Could someone explain it in Lay-mans terms as I am getting slightly confused

Hi there, my name is Kimberley and I use this site regularly to do my family tree for the Meek-Welsh family.
At present I have been on a break due to the birth of my daughter.
Whilst being on a break, I have been attempting to help a friend of mine who has special needs and cannot attempt a family tree alone.
The reason I am writing this is to reach out for some help from experienced family history enthusiasts.

Basically, the problem I have is my friends family history seems to be in the direction of Monmouthshire. And I am searching for an an estor of his which we cannot find on ANY census record what so ever...... his father has given me very basic info as the gentleman im looking for was his grandfather who died when he was around 7/8 years old and remembers very little of him discussing anything to do with parents, siblings ect.

Would anyone out there have any suggestions as to how i could find this gentleman??? I will post below the information that has been confirmed by my friends father.
Does anybody out there know of any sites that are similar to this one, but for the Monmouthshire area???
