James/Jones of Yorkley & Pillowell (reply)

Hi Kathy
Jones wood is also known as Bunny's Wood and Yorkley Wood. It is a small hamlet of about 30 to 40 houses. It is betwen Pillowell and Shaphouse Lane. There is a road from the chapel in Pillowell that goes up to it. Also it can be reached from Yorkley off the road to Lydney taking the first right fork after the school.
If you look on my website "photo forest view 2", third of the way along from the right just below the horizon is a cluster of white houses, that is Yorkley wood.

Yorkley Lane runs South out of Yorkley, with Yorkley Court ( and old colliery) on your right, to Badhamsfield
then Hulks , Allaston and on into Lydney. Jones Wood was on the right towards Pillowell, and today Shaphouse Farm .
