Thank you to those people who responded. I need to do a bit of thinking and further searching as there are several Josephs who could fit. However on the marriage allegation he says his age is 30 when he marries Ann Bodey - however can't find a Joseph born in 1763.

These are the children of Joseph & Ann(e) FRENCH christened at Slimbridge (more than just Mary & Ann)

William : 30 March 1795
Sarah : 16 July 1795/6 ***
Mary : 10 May 1801

? and these at Dursley

John : 16 August 1803 - baptised ***
Ann : 23 December 1806 - buried

There are some trees on Ancestry, which says Joseph FRENCH died in 1802

When John FRENCH a Widower of Dursley - married at North Nibley - 9 December 1854, to Charlotte WEBB, he gives his father's name as Joseph FRENCH a retired farmer.

parents of Joseph French
John French b. 1721 Frocester
d. 1795 Frocester
married to Sarah Beard b. 1710 Eastington
d. 1789 Frocester
John & Sarah married on 16 April 1745 at Alketon, Glos

If you look at the Gloucestershire Marriage Allegations 1637-1837 and Marriage Bonds 1730-1823, under RESOURCES (in the heading)

You will find both the Licence and Bond for Joseph FRENCH's marriage to Ann BODEY. To marry at Horsley (Ann's residence) in 1793

On the Licence, Joseph FRENCH's aged is 30 = c1763

There is also at Slimbridge

John FRENCH (father JOHN) marrying 1805 (witness was John FRENCH snr
George FRENCH (father JOHN) marrying 1810
THOMAS FRENCH - marrying 1833

I am trying to find the parents of Joseph French who married Anne Bodey in Slimbridge and who had a daughter Mary Ann French in Slimbridge.

I did have a Joseph who was born in May 1768 son of Joseph and Elizabeth but that was followed up with a death in August 1768 - also the son of Joseph and Elizabeth.

There is a Joseph son of John and Sarah who was born in 1761 in Frocester.

I cant find anything that will show me who Joseph's parents are.

If anyone could give me any pointers it would be appreciated. Thank you
