Lydbrook (reply)

The "titles" I would associated with the Lydbrook area would include :-

Upper Lydbrook,{Central} Lydbrook, Lower Lydbrook, Worral Hill, Joys Green , The Readings, ( Smithers Cross , Astonbridge and The Pludds heading into Ruardean), Moorwoods, The Coppice, Highbeech, Horselea / Horsley, Vention, Hangerberry / Anchorbury, The Bourts - and occasionally English Bicknor when referring to the Parish.

Lower Meend, The Squirrel, Hudnalls Hillersland (reply)

Thank you Slowhands for your reply and help. Do I take it, then that none of these places would be regarded as part of Lydbrook with perhaps the exception of Lower Meend? my 2xgreat grandfather gave his birthplace as Lydbrook and these are the places I found for the many Henry JONESs born about 1832
I know you have sent me a lot of information about this in the past but I haven`t found anything ,yet to decide which one he is
By the way one was born at Redbrook (mother Sarah) Her name was given as Williams but the infant was called JONES(about 1832)
Sylvia

Lower Meend, The Squirrel, Hudnalls Hillersland (reply)

Not really

Hillersland is north of Berry Hill / Christchurch /Coleford

Hudnalls is west of ST Briavels towards Hewelsfield

Lower Meend - there are probably several to consider - this one is probably west of St Briavels

and The Squirel is up a tree - no....is probably nr the Squirrel Inn St Arvans /Chepstow area
