The Harts in Newnham (reply)

Susan

mmmm.. not sure as they seem to have moved to Old Windsor after 1871.....however

Its a bit of a saga so bear with me!!

William Head of House (b1840) took the family to Windsor. One of his sons Frederick (b1871) went to France and was a race horse trainer (married into the Cunningtons) his eldest Fred came back to England to escape the WWI. He came to Gloucester and from what I have been told learnt his trade as a baker under his uncle who I am assuming was Fredericks brother William (b 1862). His sister Lucie also came to England married and moved her family to Gloucester in WW2 (my grandmother)

Fred (my great uncle Fred) owned 2 bakeries 1 down Westgate st (which I think is still a bakery) and 1 in the grounds of what was Dunelm Mills on London Road.

So I am intrigued as to whether William stayed in this area or came back and why they moved (Im assuming work as was usual)so much, Wales, Bridgwater, Swansea, Windsor then back to Gloucester

I know of Harts in Longhope/ Blaisdon. Rueben was killed in Gallipolli and married Evelyn. They had sons Victor, Horace, Wally, Reg and Benjamin who died as an infant. Rueben was in the Gloucest Regiment- Colour Sgt. His father was David of Hinders Lane Longhope. I have a copy of their wedding photo with his sister as bridesmaid. Very Edwardian with cake frill hats taken in what appears to be an orchard. This may be a branch of the same family as it is not far from Bullo.

Hi

Im looking for info on the following. I dont think they would have been in Newnham for long as they seemed to move around a bit!!

Frederick James Hart born in Newnham 1874
Lily hart born in Newnham 1871
Rosey hart born in Newnham 1876

Parents were William and Lucy (born in Carmarthen and Bridgwater)after 1876 they moved to Windsor where they had other children they also had older children born in Bridgwater

William was a carriage fitter and a labourer, his eldest son was a baker in fact I think he owned a shop somewhere in Gloucestershire

Many thanks
