thanks for the followup, its good to hear the outcome.
May I ask how you found out ?, was it off the Death Certificate or something more publicly available perhaps ?.
I ask as I had grandfather etc in same colliery so have similar lines of research.

Following help from the forum I can confirm... LIONEL WATKINS died from
BROCHO PNEUMONA following a double rupture sustained on the 19/03/1931 at ARTHUR EDWARDS COLLIERY, LYDBROOK,GLOS. And died in Gloucestershire Royal Infarmary on the 20th May 1931

CONCLUSION "ACCIDENTAL"

It looks almost certain that we both have the sane line of Watkins'. Do you have a brother named Raymond, if so we are 3rd cousins to each other.

Slowhands has posted most of the relevant information, you will also find a little more by searching the forum.

I have a photos of your great grandparents Sydney George Watkins and Maria Watkins (Roberts) on the website. There is also 30 more plus Watkins photos, all the people would be related to you in some way.

The furthest have been able to get with the Watkins surname is John born about 1810. John's wife was Comfort COLE and if you follow my family tree back you will find we go back a couple of generations further there.

I am the son of Bernard Watkins born January 1921 moved to Liverpool haveing worked in Rank in Cinderford and now deceased,
May my grandmother lived in plump hill Mitcheldean and re-married Tom Trigg after I assume her first husband died possibly in a mineing accident.
Bernard was possibly a cousin of Wally Watkins from the same area
I am trying to find out who my grandfather was on the Watkins side and or relations
any help pleased would assist
