For years my father-in-law, Harold Watkins, kept in his old desk in the cottage where he lived a wallet with some newspaper cuttings of his boxing days. On his death in 1965 they passed to my husband Geoff who kept them until the late 1980s and then gave them to Ruth Hirst who was compiling a file on Bream and its people at the time. It was while looking through one of Ruth's files that I came across these cuttings and asked if I could copy them down as, although Ruth had filed them away very carefully they were very brown, worn and unreadable in places.
