Amelia Brain baptised 18.10.1835 Littledean had parents Charles Brain bapt.29.8.1811 & Mary Grindle born 23.12.1809 baptised 4.2.1810 Little Dean, they were married 3.3.1835 Flaxley. Charles Brain's parents were William Brain & Beata Beddis - you will find other references to this couple on the forum. Mary Grindle's paents were Charles Grindle bapt 18.12.1778 Little Dean & Susannah Hale born about 1790 baptised 27.5.1798, they married 25.2.1808

I am trying to trace the parents of Dennis Herberts born FOD 1838 maaried to Amelia Brain. Also info on Mary Braine nee Grindley and a Mary Braine of st Breocs cornwall

I am trying to trace Amelia Herberts nee Braine born about 1837 but could be 1835 married Dennis Herberts at Holy Trinity Church Forest of Dean 2nd Oct 1858
She appears to have parents called Charles and Mary Braine but on cenusus web sites there were two Amelia Braines' with parents Charles and Mary one Mary being Mary Grindle born 1809 married at Flaxley 1835 and another Mary born St Breok Cornwall 1813 and I am unable to unravel which pair is the ancestors of Amelia Herberts also any info on Dennis Herberts would be of interest

Again, many thanks Slowhand. I would never have found that lot in a million years of research. Not only have you found a marriage, but another one as well. Regarding Asenath (name origin). Obviously taken from the Bible. Many of my own ancestors have weird and wonderful names and upon searching for meaning of the name, found nearly all of them can be found in the Bible. Every time my GGranmother had a child, they just opened the Bible and chose the first appropriate name. Many thanks, Jean Herbert

I have in my tree an "Asina or Elvina" Herbert born abt 1815 East Dean.
She had a child to a William Grey born abt 1810 East Dean. Child Dennis Herbert, who is well documented. I cannot find any record of her baptism. Believed her parents to be John Herbert born abt 1788 and Sarah Mason born abt 1788. The parents married 2 April 1809 Walford.
Can anyone find a marriage for Elvina/Asina after the birth of her natural son born abt 1838? Regards Jean Herbert
