Hi Darren,
Sorry, only just spotted your post.

If you'd like to message me with your email address, I can send you the original Excel file from which my family tree pdf was created; that has a few extra notes in it.

Family search is not opening the link you gave in your post properly; I don't know why. It looks like it's going to open a tree, then fails.

Cheers

Nick

PS I have put some info on my family on WikiTree.

Hi Nick, thanks for sharing your website and the snapshot of the family tree

I'm also a Duberley descendant, were it not for my father being give his mother's surname I would be named Duberley instead of Ferneyhough

I have combined information gleaned from your document at https://www.nickduberley.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Dads-my-family-tree-6-generatio... into the tree I'm working on here https://www.familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/landscape/GYR7-ZF5

the Family Search website is free to use and access unlike some other platforms, although I do have paid memberships on others which I've also used to source information which I've added to my tree on familysearch

I noticed a few of the details in your document have been truncated and aren't visible, if it's possible to get a non-pdf version to see the additional info that would be helpful, and any other sources you know of and can share

many thanks

Stan DUBERLEY born late 1800s, Ruardean area (reply)

Hi Mandy,
I believe I am right in saying that Stan's father was William Moses Duberley born in 1863. My grandfather, Tom Duberley born 1872, was William's brother.

I have a certain amount of family history including a tentative family tree going back to William Doberle of Redbrooke buried 01 Oct 1564 in Newland. It is by no means all checked and verified, as obviously with most early family history records are few and far between.

I'm happy to share anything I have with anyone who is interested. I'm particularly keen on finding copies of family photos, as very few seem to have survived. Quite possibly very few were taken.

On the Gibbs front, I believe Elizabeth Mary Gibbs was living at Varnister in 1901. That was where my family lived, and in fact my mother moved there when she was first married in 1932.

All the best,

Nick

PS I was born in 1955.

Stan DUBERLEY born late 1800s, Ruardean area (reply)

Hello, I am interested in the Dubberley family, my part of the family live in Handsworth Birmingham but they originated from Dymock & Redmarley I think? I have photographs of the Duberley shops in Ruardean, and one of a Dubberley clock made in Monmouth.
I wonder if we are related in any way. Probably on the wrong track.

My cousin is named Paul Dubberley.
The spelling of the name varies, sometimes one b sometimes two.
My great grandfather Albert Duberley was born about 1843 and he married an Eliza Lloyd in 1863 in the parish of Dymock, Alberts father was named Joseph.

My email address is: missymagie@yahoo.co.uk

Cheers Maggie

Stan DUBERLEY born late 1800s, Ruardean area (reply)

Hi

Yes I had trouble with the photo of Tom Duberley and his family. The names in the official records are often different to those used everyday. For instance Tom was officially Alfred Thomas. And some of the dates seem to be wrong. My understanding of the information in the picture is as follows:

Rex is Hubert Rex b1908 d1957
Percy is Percy Dougals b1903 d1960
Lester is Lester Albert b1901 d1945
Eric is Eric William George b1898 d1957
Austin is Austin Tom b30/10/1899 d1973
Carl is Reginald Carl b1904 d1961
Jeff is Geoffrey Howard b1907 d12/03/1944
Jack is Jasper Idrid b10/09/1912 d1979
Virgo is Frederick Virgo b1905 d1957

And there was also:

Keith Miles b1911 d1913
Trevor Bruce b1914 d1915

So a remarkable 11 boys with all but Geoff of the 9 remaining going on to have families. David who supplied the picture is the son of Neville. I don't know any of these people but we share a common name and are related.

Hi

The details of Stan's siblings are as follows:

John Duberley b1886 (can't find his death yet)
Harold Duberley b1888 d1888
Ellen Mary Duberley b1889 d1911
Maud Frances Duberley b1891 d1965
William Stanley Duberley b1894 d 1963
Albert Duberley b20/06/1897 d1974
Thomas Duberley b13/07/1899 d1980
Richard Duberley b1902 d1968
Ivy Duberley b08/01/1904 d1997
Ernest Duberley b21/09/1906 d09/06/1978

My grandfather Ernest left the Forest of Dean where he had been a miner after the General Strike in 1926 when he went to London for a new start. He met my grandmother Rose Payne and got married on 23/11/1929. They lived in West London for the remainder of their time. Ivy and Maud also went to London. Ivy was the final sibling to die in 1997. I went to her funeral.

If anyone has any specific information about Duberley's or any pictures then I'd be very interested to exchange information. We have no pictures as they didn't get passed on if any ever existed.

Stan DUBERLEY born late 1800s, Ruardean area (reply)

Hi Paul

I had previously read the wonderful story about Stan Duberley rescuing Albert Watkins but had no idea that it was actually William Stanley Duberley, who is in my Family Tree (6th cousin once removed).

Although I have 5 siblings for William Stanley Duberley I had not been aware of an Ernest and perhaps you could pass on details, you might like to get in touch using my email link.

You have no doubt seen the Duberley family photograph of Tom Duberley submitted by Dave Duberley. You can access it by following this link. http://forest-of-dean.net/gallery/ruardean/
William Stanley Duberley's father William Moses Duberley was the brother of Thomas Duberley in the photograph. I was unable to make contact with Dave Duberley who submitted the photograph, but Dave Watkins suggested I contact Reg Duberley, which I did and have exchanged correspondence with him by snail mail as he is not a user of email. I would be glad to share information with you.

My main interest is with the Marfell family but have strong connections with other Forest of Dean families, indeed my relationship with William Stanley Duberley is via the Brain/Baldwin/Knight families.

Stan DUBERLEY born late 1800s, Ruardean area (reply)

Hi

Stan Duberley was my grandfathers brother (Ernest). There were 10 children (7 boys and 3 girls) although 1 died soon after birth. Stan was born in 1894 and died in 1963. He died whilst queuing up to see Wales play the All Blacks in Cardiff. He had played for Gloucestershire against the All Blacks in 1923/24. He was a big man and very much like my grandfather.

He married Elizabeth Mary Gibbs (b28/12/1896) on 23/03/1916. They had 5 children Ellen Agnes (b07/10/1916), Elsie Marion (b01/11/1919), Frank John (b27/09/1921), Mavis Nora (b1925) and Ivy Megan (b29/03/1931). All except Ellen are still alive and each had children. I met Frank and Ivy recently and they had a copy of the Watkins story about being saved in the 1st World War. And they are very proud of this story and their father's rugby achievements.

If you want any more information then please ask.
