Lydney reg. was used by many on the Chepstow side of Lydney.

Lydney is just a short distance from Ayleburton.

St Briavels village is only a couple miles from Ayleburton.

I'd certainly keep this as a strong possibility; not proven yet !

That's the ones slowhands! I am still to find out whether Priscilla (Poussetha 1871) and Ann (1881) are the same person or different people. I have found a marriage for David and Priscilla but not a David and Ann. If Priscilla died and he then married Ann it doesn't explain to me why some of the children that should have Prisiclla as a mother at baptism have Ann and Visa versa!!! My thinking is that they are and she just couldn't make her mind up as to which name she wanted to be known by lol!

Back to Florence, so it is plausible then that the Lydney baptism could be her? Just to add on the 1901 info you stated, Florence's brother William b. 1893 is my Great Grandfather.

Hi Guys

Right, I have Florence Jones on the 1891 and 1901 census with her parents William and Mary Jones. Her age on both gives her a rough birth date of 1888 St. Briavels.

Until now I have been unable to locate a baptism for her. The parents married in Monmouth register office in 1887 and as her approx birth her seemed to be 1888 I plumped for her baptism being after the marriage, BUT today I have come across a baptism on the parish records that I think could be her.

There is a baptism in Lydney for Florence Emily Jones 3 Apr 1885 father not stated mother Mary Janes? address Aylburton. I know that the year is a few out but I am thinking that they could have messed with the year on the census to cover for the fact that she was born before marriage? Plausible huh? This one also caught my eye because Florence's mother was called Mary Jane Steele before her marriage - do you see what I mean?

After 1901, I am yet to find a trace of her. I am also unable to find anything for her sister Clara Priscilla Jones b. abt 1889 St. Briavels according to the 1891 and 1901 census.
