John BELL 1810 Newland (reply)

Thanks. I had looked at that baptism. The year is right but there is still the doubt as to how he became John Bell Jones.
Maybe his mother Sophia married again and became a Jones.

JONES & Tyler Little Dean (reply)

The inn mentioned in the 1861 census is the Swan. It is now a house as is the Bell Inn.My gt grandfather was William Jones and I am having difficulty finding the baptism of John Jones.
Do you know where his name 'Bell' comes from? It doesn't appear until the birth certificate of William in 1838.
