Maybe his mother Sophia married again and became a Jones.

It is now a house as is the Bell Inn.My gt grandfather was William Jones and I am having difficulty finding the baptism of John Jones.
Do you know where his name 'Bell' comes from? It doesn't appear until the birth certificate of William in 1838.

Have baptisms for Mary & William at Chepstow & some of the children at Little Dean .
Unable to locate John & Elizabeth 1871 Did they die & if so burial records Little Dean?
