John MANSELL bp.mar 1801

My 3x Great Grandpa John MANSELL was born 1801 to Samuel and Mary MANSELL and baptised in St Michaels Gloucester.on 20th Mar 1801 He is later recorded as being born in NEWENT..

In 1819 he married Mary Ann PUGH in MYNYDISSLWYN and they had 4 children who were baptised in the Methodist circuit around CARDIFF. They moved to Trevethin where he took work as a miner. In 1850 their youngest child married and the following year they were back in NEWENT where he was living in (9)?Broad street with his wife and working as a currier and leathercutter.

He died on 7th September 1858 and letters of administration were granted to Mary Mansell his wife. He was described as a leather currier and seller.

I am trying to find out more about John’s parents whether he had siblings whether they were local and more about the leather business they worked at. Were they proprietors? I am at a loss as to who I should contact for St Michaels records pre 1837. Can anyone offer advice. Thank you
