Could somebody help me!!! I have hunted high and low and cannot find the marriage of William Nicholls and Harriet Beavan. I think it would be around 1871/2, he was from Overbury and Harriet from Westbury/ Flaxley area.
Many thanks in advance.

Thankyou Slowhands. I am not sure that the earlier census's are my William, as I have the 1881 census for him married to Harriet living in Birmingham. I think the only way I am going to confirm his family are if I can find his marriage to Harriet, but that is proving difficult at the moment. As for the Lily on the 1901 census, I can only think it was an error and it should have been written as Lucy. There are several mistakes on there i.e. Williams age and the family name was incorrectly spelt.
I'll keep surfing and see what I can come up with.
Regards,
Sandra

How do you do it Slowhands? You're amazing! I have been searching for ages for that 1901 census and all other records associated with William Nicholls, but to no avail. Once you start looking outside of the Forest of Dean it can get very difficult, there is no other website like this one.
However I am now intrigued about the daughter on the census called Lily, to my knowledge they didn't have a daughter called Lily, but one called Agnes AKA Lucy, but born in 1873.....One problem solved and another appears!

Travellers Inn, Elton

Hi,
I am looking for information on The Travellers Rest nr Elton. Apparently my Great Great Grandfather William Nicholls ran it. I am not sure when, but I have found him and his wife Harriet on the 1891 census at 13 Wellington St, Birmingham and cannot find them anywhere on the 1901 census, so I don't know where they were, but at some stage they moved back to the Forest and ran the pub.
Look forward to any help that I can get.
Regards,
Sandra
