IMM - JONES marriage 1837 (reply)

Thank you so much Slowhands that is the correct James Jones, that links him with his parents, James Jones and Elizabeth Morgan, and is confirmed by his occupation being a miner and his children's names. I think the one at Brockweir may have been a lawyer and the downward leap to miner may have been a wondrous thing!

I have now pieced together, thanks to your help, the family of James Jones and Elizabeth Morgan and at least two of his children. It truly is amazing how these families in the Forest are inextricably linked. I have learnt coincidently that one of Mary Ann's children, for example, married a Vaughan and went to the USA.

My big challenge now is to find out if James Jones born between 1784-1786 is actually the one I am looking for and if his father and mother is my James Jones and his wife Anne. I know for sure that they had a child called James. There is no baptism in Hewelsfield for him but I do have one other source document that might confirm this for me, and my hopes rest with this.

Thank you again, you have been really good to me, and I really appreciate the hard work you have done.
Kind regards,
Pat

Slowhands has posted the 1851 Census on the above thread, or are you looking for a different James Jones now?

James JONES born Hewelsfield 1811, 1851 Census

I would appreciate any help in finding James Jones, baptised 1811 Hewelsfield. I looked at the 1841 index and I found three born in his time frame. One was in Brockwier:

1864 JONES James 30 Brockweir 3 365/7 9
1755 JONES Hannah 31 Brockweir 3 365/7 9
2568 JONES William Henry 30 Brockweir 3 365/7 9
1724 JONES George West 20 Brockweir 3 365/7 9

Another at:

1830 JONES James 30 Brains Green 2 364/5 15
1761 JONES Harriet 25 Brains Green 2 364/5 15

and finally one at Tidenham:
1867 JONES James 30 Tidenham, Bishton 3A 369/4 6

In the 1881 Census he is described as a widow and living with his sister, Mary Ann Bird.

Of these three I think the most likely one would be the one at Brockweir.

The 1851 Census would help me if it is not too difficult, with a name like Jones.

Thank you
Pat
