William's father was in fact George Blacker Tucker who was born in Mynyddislwyn, but taken back to the family church (St.Augustines) in Clutton Somerset for his baptism.

Georges parents were William Tucker and Almira Parfitt.

Very sorry I just dropped away yesterday - our broadband went down AGAIN (we've been having intermittant probs for about 4 months now), and I couldn't get back into the site.

Anyway, firstly I'm really grateful for all that you have found for us, but as far as we are aware there is no family connection to Pembrokeshire. William Tucker (Mary Roberts 2nd husband) was born (if I can remember) in Tirphil - no place of birth entered on the birth certificate, and his Father was called William Blacker Tucker born in Somerset.

It would appear that he didn't always use the Blacker middle name and we're not sure where that originates from either, but that's another branch on the tree.

What I wondered is whether or how I could contact the person who might have transcribed the parish records for the area where the Roberts family lived, to see whether Mary Roberts was actually baptised with the middle name Regina.

I can feel a visit to Risca and a graveyard coming on. I think I've just found the death registration for Caroline in 1900. This would explain why I've not been able to find her on the 1901 census (can't find Mary Regina Tucker either but that's a different story).

I think I was thrown off the scent a bit because William isn't listed as a widower, and Rose is living with her father as a housekeeper, and I believe Cordelia is living next door with her husband William Hawkins.

How did you know I was talking about Mary Regina Tucker - I didn't mention the Tucker name?????

Have you checked where her parents are buried, or where her spouse(s) are buried ? its not unusual to find family members laid to rest together

The Mary in 1871 and 1881 seems to be born 1868/69....

Yes you are correct with your wild guess. After a lot of searching we did eventually find her death registration and we have the death certificate. This is where her age at 41 indicates that she should have been born c1871.

Grandma Mary died in Tirphil, close to New Tredegar, but apart from the main cemeteries at Brithdir and Cefn Golau (where the Council say she isn't),and a deserted and derelict chapel on top of the mountainside there doesn't appear to be anywhere else locally where she could be.

She also had a daughter called Mary Regina who died at the age of 10 in Pembrokeshire around 1920 - why she was in Pembrokeshire we don't know but would suspect that her stepmum sent her away into service.

I'm trying to help a good friend of mine with her family research - she lives in Doncaster and is unable to get to Wales, but she is desperately trying to find the burial location for her Grandma Mary Regina, and that's how this has all started. We've tried approaching this from all angles, and keep coming up against brick walls.

We know where she died in Wales and where her children were born, but do you think we can find where she's buried, can we heck as like (a good Yorkshire saying I've picked up there ha ha), and because Grandma died in 1912 long before her granddaughter was even a twinkle in her dad's eye she's finding it very frustrating. We have approached both the Gwent and Caerphilly Councils, who say that Grandma's burial isn't registered with them, so its down to searching in the local parish records, which is proving another impossible task.

Many thanks for your help though - its given us a bit more info that we didn't have before.
