Thanks for replying but its the James Johnson which I have on my tree -which Chris has solved it married to a Charlotte Phelps.

I have a James Johnson of Lydbrook married to a Charlotte -so you have solved that puzzle for me -it is Charlotte Phelps -which gives me another surname to investigate.

I cannot help with James Johnson but wonder if your Charlotte may be the brother of my James born 9-8-1818 Abenhall, parents Samuel Beddis and Mary [ nee cloudly ] married 17-2-1805. If so do you have any info on Samuel ?

How-do!

I can only find a Charlotte Beddis who married a William Edwards,
or a James Johnson who married a Charlotte Phelps. Nothing is ever straightforward is it?

Hi there I have just found this great site and not sure quite how to use it.

I think that Charlotte Beddis born Abenhall 1813 - [Parish reg says Hundredth of St Briavels ]-with parents Samuel and Mary, is the daughter of Samuel above.
I am trying to find her marriage to a James Johnson of Lydbrook can you suggest any sources to try?

Undertood, but don't set too much on there being a headstone; I hope there is but many are/were simply unmarked, and many old stones are in a poor condition.

Is there anyone who could look at the headstones in st michael's churchyard and tell me if the stone for,Samuel Beddis died 24 April 1845 age 71 is still there and tell me if there is any other info on the stone
