Have a look in the photo gallery and you can now see a photo of Annie Cale and her grandaughter Florence Probert. Florence still lives in Lydbrook.

Caleb Moses MATTHEWS 1873-1909 (reply)

Wonderful new. Another 'cousin' contacted us a few weeks ago. Granddaughter of MARTIN MATTHEWS, brother of HUBERT. She and her husband came over to meet us. Her brothers and sisters are coming down here on 7th June to meet up. We will be about 24 cousins in my house. Great!! Still trying to find CALEBS grave. We know its at Holy Trinity in Drybrook but where is another matter. Any ideas?

Regards Janita

Caleb Moses MATTHEWS 1873-1909 (reply)

Well Gypsy Rose we are related. Caleb Matthews was my G Grandfather. His daughter Blanche Matthews would later marry Henry Probert.

Slowhands is correct; Caleb was involved in a pit accident, his leg was crushed and he died of his injuries some weeks later. I will add a picture of Annie Cale to the photo gallery in case you have no photos. I also have a picture of one of the Matthews in the first world war.

There is a plan of the graveyard held with the Glos Family History Society that includes an index of names, some Calebs are recorded, but not this one(his sister Bertha was my great grandmother)
