This is a very belated reply to some assistance. Thank you in anticipation. I have just begun to follow up records for Charles Davis (1842). His birth certificate says his mother's maiden name was Carter but his sister's birth certificate says his mother's maiden name was Wilkins. Both christian names were Sarah. Is it possible that the 'Carter' birth certificate could be wrong? Sarah Davis, wife of Charles Davis bricklayer didn't die until 1873, so it seems unlikely that there was a death and remarriage. I am pretty sure that Charles Davis married Sarah Jane Carter, as the birth certificate of Charles George Davis (born 1842) has his mother's name as Sarah Davis, formerly Carter.

Could there be another Charles Davis, or could this be a second marriage for Charles Davis (1795)
