Isaac HERBERT who kept the White Horse in Mitcheldean (reply)

Thank you for your very prompt reply to my query. The only information I have on Isaac Herbert is he was married to Edith Jones and they had 3 possible 4 childre Nora, Audrey and Edith May who was my mother she died of TB when I was 4 yeas old, I think they also may have ha a son, Before keeping the White Horse they were at The Stag Inn and before that Bailey Inn at Yorkley. Does any of this tie in with your research. The whole family appear to have died within about 3-4 years of one another. Again thank you for your help. regards

Isaac HERBERT/ White Horse in Mitcheldean 1939 (reply)

This info from the Links page on this site:

White Horse Hotel, High Street GL17 0AT
The White Horse Commercial Hotel was the nearest pub to the Mitcheldean Forest Brewery and might have once qualified as the brewery tap. A sandstone brick building that has changed very little over the last hundred years or so, except that the beers are no longer brewed next door. The White Horse is now a free house. The Flooks were resident at the White Horse for over 25 years and had previously run the Talbot in Calne, Wiltshire. Unfortunately Mrs Flooks died as a result of falling down the cellar steps.

Isaac HERBERT who kept the White Horse in Mitcheldean (reply)

If you do find any information I would be interested too. I have several lines of Herbert in our tree, not certain which one you are in, or you may be researching a whole new branch. Isaac is not a name I have come across yet so it will be interesting to find out more about him. Regards Jean Herbert
