I found Mary at home with her parents James and Mary Howell, in 1871, Also shows child Alice (AAA?) together with Mary and her two brothers John and James.

Next census is 1891 where the childrens names have changed to Phelps. Mary has recently died.

1901 census is a mystery. The only one I could find was a william Phelps age 60 residing in the local Workhouse, but I am not certain it is him.

I was recently shown a record of marriage for a William Phelps and a Mary Howell June 1873 Monmouth vol 11a page 83 but not certain if this is correct.
Can anyone tell me if William and Mary did marry and what happened to William in 1901. Regards Jean Herbert
