William Rudge: seems to have been a fairly common name. With what you and Chris have provided in the way of possibilities, I am still hopeful that a William with children is a possible connection as the rest that line is about come to an end.

Hi John

Nobody is rushing to answer this one! I assume this is the William Rudge that was baptised at Longhope on 17/12/1809? I've found a John Rudge baptised 25/02/1816 at Longhope. Both give William and Nancy as parents, so possibly brothers. I can't find an entry for James?

I searched for Sarah's born in Newent 1815-1816 and found a Sarah Townsend baptised 21/04/1816. On FreeBMD: Dec 1844 Gloucester Marriages both William Rudge and Sarah Townsend are listed. If this is your William and Sarah perhaps their children were born in Gloucester?

I'm looking for information about a William Rudge who may have been born abt. dec 1809 in Longhope.
I believe that he may have been the same William Rudge that is on the 1881 census along with wife Sarah who seems to have been born in Newent abt. 1815 or 1816.

I'm wondering if they had children that could have been listed on an earlier census.

I believe that William and Sarah are connected to my James and John Rudge of Longhope.
