Hi Sylvia

Ohhh I'm a more than bit confused now! When and where were your William Woolley and Ann Brooks born? Do you have a family tree somewhere I could view? I use Genesreunited and Ancestry.

My direct ancestors are William Woolley b 1819 and Ellen/Eleanor Voyce b 1821 not Ann.

Please feel free to email me at home

shartley@slingshot.co.nz

I am happy to share any information that may be of interest to you and am always delighted to find new cousins.

Cheers

Nice to know our families were friends Sylvia!

I think I now have Ellen or Eleanor's maiden name. It is Voyce or Voice. I am waiting for Mary Ann's birth certificate to prove it but in the meantime this knowledge has opened up another branch of the tree.

Thank you to all for your help.

Also I cant fit the William BROOKS (father of Emma born 1833) into my BROOKS clan .MY 3x great grandfather William BROOKS married an Elizabeth(HARRIS) and his son William also married an Elizabeth(ROBINS) and his grandson William married a Sophia(?)
Thanks again

William and Ann ( nee BROOKS) WOOLLEY Anchorbury (reply)

Thanks, slowhands for that reply. there are 2 points of interest for me in it. Firstly that Ann Wooley`s maiden name was BROOKS although there is no mention of her in the descendancy chart I have for the BROOKS. Secondly , The witness to the WOOLLEY marriage was a William BROOKS(probably Jemima`s brother(born bet. 1817 and 1821 in Ruardean where the BROOKS and ALLAWAYS lived. The BROOKS were at Aston Bridge LOdge in 1841
Best wishes

William and Ellen Woolley (reply)

Thanks Slowhands, now I have the siblings of William to add on to my tree. I knew about Sarah but not the others.

It was suggested to me to order Mary Ann's birth certificate which should, hopefully, show Ellen's maiden name. I have just done that so will wait and see what information it may have.

On this site the parish records have daughter Ellen as Eleanor so maybe mother Ellen should be Eleanor also. Even more complications!

Thanks once again for your help.

William and Ellen Woolley

Here is a tricky request but I hope someone may have the answer.

To start another branch of my tree I would love to find out the maiden name of my 3x Gt Grandmother Ellen Woolley.

From the census records Ellen's birth year is somewhere between 1821 - 1823 and she was born in West Dean.

William's birth year is somewhere between 1815-1821, born in Lydbrook.

I do not have a marriage record for them but the babies began in 1843 so I assume it must have been close to that time. The children are:

Amelia b 1843 (m John Edwards)
John b 1846 (m Elizabeth White)
Ellen b 1851
William Thomas 1856 (m Sarah ?)
Mary Anne b 1859 (m William Robinson) - my 2x Gt Grandparents.

If anyone has these people in their trees or any tiny piece of information at all, I would be delighted to hear from you. Especially any cousins out there!

Thank you

Cheers
