I have the Charles Baldwin baptised 25.9.1737 Ruardean who married Betty and had a son Charles in my family tree as a connected rather than related person. AND I have Charles Baldwin born 1755 who married Elizabeth Dovey as (in my view) separate people; Elizabeth Dovey was the daughter of William Dovey & Elizabeth Tingle. William Dovey's 1795 will refers to son in law Charles Baldwin.

Charles Baldwin & Elizabeth Dovey are also connected not related to me but the next generations lead to a considerable number of relatives. Amelia Baldwin & Joseph Chivers son Zilpah leads me to a number of relatives in subsequent generations, but as my main interest is the Marfell Family, Amelia's sister Winifred married Amos Yemm and 3 of their 9 children married Marfell's, Amelia's brother Thomas married Mary Roberts my 3rd cousin 4 times removed.

Charles Baldwin baptised 1737 was the son of James Baldwin & Sarah Robbins. Grandparents Charles Baldwin & Elizabeth Lamb, but I don't know the parents of Charles Baldwin born 1755 but I would like to.

I would also be interested to know who Betty was.

I am interested in your posting about Charles Baldwin. My 4th Great Grandmother is an Amelia Baldwin, born about 1786 or 1787. She married Joseph Chivers in 1808, Newland parish, Ruardean.

From what I have pieced together from the FOD transcriptions, there are two possible baptisms for Amelia - one is 15 Jan 1786 - a base daughter of Betty, and one 23 Sept 1787 - parents Charles and Betty. Both baptisms took place in Ruardean.

Does this Amelia tie in to your Baldwin family?

Appreciate any information you may have regarding Amelia.

My GGGrandmother was Ellen Baldwin of Hampshire, maybe the little villiage of Beaulieu or Beauworth, any Hampshire Baldwins in your tree?
She married John Edwards at Staunton in 1836

The sister of my great x4 grandfather Samuel Dovey c 1768 was Betty Dovey c 1759 who married Charles Baldwin some time before 1779. Is this the same family? maybe Charles being the son of Charles 1737?
