I think I have found the connection between the two MALSON families! I've spent hours going over the Parish online records, IGI, and census records.

I also have Malson/Malsoms in my family tree. My g.g.grandfather was William Malson (1796-1874) who was living in Horsepool Bottom in 1841. I am descended from his son Benjamin (1835-1890).

Any information on the Malson family would be very much appreciated.

The Frederick that I have information on and immigrated to the U.S. is the same as your Frederick, son of William and Catherine (GIBBS) Malson!

I have Malsons in my family tree as follows

Richard Malson abt 1736 married Susanna Viner at Abenhall in 1763. Therir children were Hannah 1763/ Thomas 1765/ Richard 1768/ john 1771/ William 1774/ mary 1778 & 1783.

William Malson bap 6 Mar 1774 at Abenhall married Catherine Gibbs in 1798. Their children were Betsey 1800/ Matildee 1804/ Frederick 1805/ George 1808/ martha 1812/ William 1815

Martha Malson bap 4 Oct 1812 at Abenhall is my g.g.grandmother. She married Thomas Harris in 1832 and lived at Horsepool Bottom, a hamlet a few hundred yards across the fields from Abenhall church

Sorry I don't have a John Malson 1797 to offer, but I guess this thread weaves around your family tree

I found this line of MALSON living in the States and traced them back to Gloucestershire. They immigrated in 1866. Thought they might belong to someone.
