I thought it may be of use to anyone searching for records in the Blakeney area.


The parish of Blakeney was formed in 1813, before this all baptisms, marriages and burials would have taken place in the parish of Awre.

The Gloucestershire Archives holds the following registers for the parish of Awre (P30),

Baptisms 1538-1882
Marriages 1538-1995
Burials 1538-1865

The parish of Viney Hill was formed in 1866, before this the people would have used the parish church nearest to them.
