Captain Frank Dance started his business behind a shop near the Hangerberry road junction, producing the linament Cur-ach-o ( for rheumatic pain ?). These works later were occupied by the Lydbrook Valley Spring Co or as locals referred to it the "pop factory" !

Does anyone have information about a chemicals company called Curacho Ltd formed at Lydbrook in 1924? Its chairman was one of the Vaughan family from Courtfield, Major CJ Vaughan JP, and the managing director Captain Frank Dance who donated the Curacho Cup to local rugby teams. I have a photo from a 1920s company sports day showing captured World War 1 German pontoons being used to ferry locals across to Courtfield.
